WYM DESIGNS | PISTON JOYSTICK | DR. DABBER SWITCH 2

A directional joystick carb cap for the Dr. Dabber Switch 2, machined from solid Grade 5 titanium by Kyle Wym in a one-person USA shop. The Piston controls how much air reaches the bucket, so your concentrate comes off denser and holds its terps at low temp. Pick it up and it feels like what it is: a precision part cut one at a time, anodized in colors that live in the metal. We stock it in the Wym standard .094 bore plus a short run of more open bores for heavier glass.

Tune the Draw to Your Glass
The stock .094 bore builds back-pressure for dense, flavor-first pulls on simpler glass. The open .125, .140, and .155 bores breathe easier, which is exactly what a JFGlass diffy pump or a SAML Dual Uptake Recycler wants.

Fine Machining You Can Feel
Crisp edges, clean bores, and real weight in the hand. Every Piston is turned from titanium bar, hand-deburred, and anodized, so the color is part of the metal instead of paint sitting on top of it.

Pick your restriction first, then your color. Photos and video show the Switch GO Piston, and the Switch 2 version looks nearly identical with minor changes for its larger grommet. Colors are hand-sorted and many pieces carry more than one tone, so if you want a specific combination, ask and we will send photos or video of the exact piece. Switch 2 fitment only.

Meet the Maker

One Lathe, One Pair of Hands

Kyle Wym is an engineer and machinist who got tired of stock carb caps leaking flavor, so he started cutting his own. Every Piston that leaves his shop was bored, faced, deburred, and checked by the same person who designed it. Nothing is jobbed out. It is a small operation on purpose: slower, tighter tolerances, and a finish closer to a watch case than a vape part.

Ordering direct means a made-to-order wait while Kyle cuts your piece. We keep them in hand, sorted by bore and color, so yours ships with the rest of your gear. Same maker, same metal, no queue.

The Physics

Why a Controlled Bore Tastes Better

The idea is simple and the machining is what makes it work. Three steps from stock cap to flavor cap.

01
Set the Inlet
A stock cap lets air rush straight through the bucket. The Piston meters it through a single bore machined to a measured diameter. That number is the whole trick, and it is cut to a tolerance, not drilled and hoped for.

Build Back-Pressure
A metered inlet builds back-pressure across the bucket. Concentrate stays on the heat a beat longer and vaporizes more completely instead of getting pulled off half-spent by a wide-open airpath.

Hold the Low Temp
Denser vapor at lower temperature is the payoff. The Piston is tuned for the 375 to 475 degree range where terps survive. You taste the strain instead of the scorch, and the joystick tip steers the airflow to sweep the bucket clean.

Pick Your Restriction

Four Bores, One Question

The restriction is the bore diameter in inches. Smaller number, tighter draw and more back-pressure. Bigger number, easier pull and more airflow. The real question is how much drag your glass already adds, because the cap and the glass add up.

.094
Stock: The Wym Standard
The bore Kyle cuts for the Switch 2 by default and the deepest stock we carry. Maximum back-pressure and the densest low-temp flavor. Best on dry tops, bubblers, and lighter perc glass where the glass itself does not fight the draw.

.125 / .140
Open: Built for Heavy Glass
More open bores for glass that already adds a lot of drag. A JFGlass diffy pump or a SAML recycler moves more water than a dry top, and an open cap keeps the pull smooth instead of making you work for it. Limited quantities.

.155
Extra Open: The Big Breather
The most open bore we stock. It shines on the SAML Dual Uptake Recycler, where two uptakes and a full recycle function want all the air they can get. Very limited, only a handful in hand.

JFGlass Diffusion Pumps
The diffy pump is built for slow, chuggy, low-temp sessions. Put a .125 or .140 Piston on top and the pull stays smooth while the diffusion does its job.

Open and Extra Open
SAML Glass, Especially the Dual Uptake
Every SAML piece plays well with an open Piston. The Dual Uptake Recycler is the standout: a .140 or .155 feeds it enough air to keep the recycle spinning hard.

The Build

Built Like an Instrument

Titanium, tolerances, and a finish that shows its work. This is what separates a machined cap from a cast one, and why it is as nice to hold as it is to use.

Grade 5 Titanium
Solid bar stock, not coated pot metal. Grade 5 shrugs off heat cycle after heat cycle, puts no taste of its own into the vapor, and will outlast the rig it sits on.

Color in the Metal
Colored Pistons are anodized, an electrochemical finish that lives in the titanium itself. Two-tone pieces pair a color with bare raw titanium for contrast. Nothing painted, nothing to flake into your airpath.

Directional Joystick
The joystick tip pivots to aim the airstream anywhere in the bucket. Steer the puddle, chase the last bit into the corner, and finish the dab clean instead of leaving a burnt ring for the swab.

We did our best to categorize and label every piece accurately, but like anything there may be small discrepancies. A warm iso soak and a wipe brings it back to clean. Skip the torch. Direct flame will shift anodized colors over time. The metal itself is nearly indestructible in normal use.
