A Vape Mod That Ended Up Running Ball Vapes
The Ravage230 was built in 2017 for e-liquid coils. It found a second life driving 510 heaters because of how it handles temperature control, and because a small team wrote custom firmware for it that nobody has matched since. Here is the actual reason it matters.

The Coil Is the Thermometer
A ball vape or 510 heater has no thermocouple inside it. The resistance wire doing the heating is also the only temperature sensor you get. The mod watches how much that resistance climbs as the coil warms and works backward to a temperature. Every bit of accuracy you get comes from the mod reading that change correctly.

TCR Is the Translator
TCR is the number that turns a resistance change into a temperature reading. Get it wrong, or lock the wrong cold resistance, and the number on your screen is fiction. The Ravage230 ships with adjustable TCR built into the stock firmware and reads down to 0.05 ohm, which is what a heavy low-ohm heater needs.

Stock Firmware Was Never the Point
Factory firmware on any vape mod is tuned for cotton and e-liquid. Presets for nickel and titanium, coarse steps, automatic resistance checks that read a warm coil and drift your whole scale. Custom firmware is what turns this mod into a proper heater controller, and this is one of two devices Red Panda was written for.
The Firmware
What Red Panda Unlocks
Red Panda is the NFE Team’s custom firmware for color-screen Joyetech and Wismec mods. It is the sibling of ArcticFox, which most of the ball vape world already runs on monochrome mods. ArcticFox does not support the Ravage230. Red Panda does, and it is the only route to this feature set on this hardware.
Eight Profiles and Smart Mode
Each profile stores its own coil material, locked resistance, power, and temperature. Smart mode reads the resistance when you thread something on and picks the matching profile by itself, within a tolerance you set. Swap between a ball vape, a banger coil, and a dry herb heater without touching a menu.
Preheat and Power Curves
Set preheat in watts, as a percentage, or build it out as one of eight editable curves so the mod ramps power the way your heater actually wants it. Pair that with a temperature-dominant regulation mode and long autofire and you get a session that holds steady instead of spiking and sagging.
The Expert Tools
Manual resistance locking, so the mod stops re-reading a warm coil and drifting your scale. A SHUNT setting that calibrates the mod’s own ohm meter. And a TCR check toggle that clears the TCR errors heavy low-ohm heaters throw on stock firmware. This is the part that actually makes a big heater usable.
The Hardware
Two Cells and a Screen You Can Actually Read
Firmware is half the story. The other half is that this is a full-size dual-cell mod with a color display, which is a different daily experience than the pocket-size single-cell mods most 510 heaters get paired with.
Power Delivery

Wismec rates the Ravage230 at 230 watts; a number of retail listings spec the same device at 200 watts. Either way it is far more than any 510 heater needs, and that overhead is the point. A mod running at 40 percent of its ceiling holds voltage steady instead of sagging at the end of a long heat.
Batteries
Dual Removable 18650
Two cells behind a hinged bottom door, with balanced onboard charging and reverse polarity protection. Wismec specifies high-rate 18650s rated above 25A continuous discharge. Removable cells also mean this mod outlives its own battery, which is exactly why a 2017 device is still worth owning in 2026.
Display and Controls
1.45 in Color TFT
A full-color TFT instead of the small monochrome OLED on most budget mods. Reading a profile name, live resistance, and temperature at a glance matters when you are dialing in TCR. Two adjustment buttons, a function button, and a stealth firing bar handle the rest.
Connection
Spring-Loaded 510
Centered stainless steel 510 with a spring-loaded center pin, rated to fit atomizers up to 28mm. Temperature control reads from 0.05 to 1.5 ohm, wattage mode from 0.1 to 3.5 ohm, with 50A maximum output current. That low end is what lets it work with heavy sub-ohm heaters.

Pocket Rocket
The Pocket Rocket was built around a small single-cell mod running ArcticFox, and it works great that way. Moving it to the Ravage230 buys you roughly double the runtime on two cells, a screen you can read your resistance on, and enough headroom that your power setting is never the limiting factor. Same firmware family, same workflow, more mod underneath it.
BakX by Lamart
Lamart’s guidance for the BakX calls for a regulated 510 box mod capable of at least 60 watts, with more power giving faster heat-up and more room on heavy extractions, plus accurate resistance reading and real TC support. A dual-cell 230 watt mod with adjustable TCR and locked resistance meets that brief without breaking a sweat. Lamart publishes its own material files for DNA hardware and its own firmware for Joyetech and Wismec devices, so plan on dialing in your own numbers here.
Everything Else With a 510
On-demand convection heaters, e-nail coils, dry herb ball vapes, banger coils, and standard atomizers up to 28mm. With eight profiles and Smart mode you can keep a tuned setup saved for each one. It is still a full-featured wattage and temperature control mod underneath, so nothing about its original job went away.

This ships on whatever firmware is on it. Flashing Red Panda is a job you do yourself with NFE Tools on a Windows PC over USB, and you have to source the firmware file. Batteries Are Not Included
You need two high-rate 18650 cells rated above 25A continuous discharge, bought as a married pair and kept together for their whole life. Same brand, same age, charged and drained together. Do not mix an old cell with a new one in a dual-cell mod. If you are not already comfortable with 18650 safety, learn that first.

Micro-USB, Not USB-C
This is 2017 hardware. The port is micro-USB, rated for 2A charging, and it is also how you connect to a PC to flash firmware or edit profiles. Onboard charging works fine, but an external 18650 charger is the better habit on any dual-cell mod and will treat your cells better over time.

Out of production with no retail supply left. There is no manufacturer warranty and no replacement parts pipeline. Custom firmware carries no warranty of any kind from anyone, and flashing it is done at your own risk. Stock Firmware Has Quirks
Reviewers of the original device flagged occasional unresponsive fire button behavior and the menu triggering during fast repeat presses on factory firmware. Wismec’s 510 connectors of that era were also not the flattest, so some atomizers sit slightly proud. Both are known, both are part of why the community moved to custom firmware in the first place.
