Now Built to Look Different.
Medical-grade titanium. 20mm precision cup. Fastest heat-up of any Switch² insert material. And now available in nine anodized colors that shift and shimmer the way titanium does under heat. One insert, ten ways to run it.

Three real differences between the titanium insert and the quartz or sapphire options. All of them matter depending on how you dab.
|
01
Fastest Heat-Up of Any Insert
Titanium transfers heat faster than quartz or sapphire. The induction well heats the cup and the cup reacts immediately. Less waiting between loading and hitting. If quick, responsive dabs are what you need, titanium gets there first.
|
02
Most Durable Insert Available
Titanium does not crack, chip, or shatter. You can soak it in ISO, torch it, drop it, and run it through daily sessions without babying it. Quartz and sapphire require careful handling to avoid thermal shock. Titanium does not have that problem.
|
03
Flush Fit, Efficient Transfer
The 20mm cup is machined to sit flush inside the Switch² induction well. That direct wall contact means the induction field heats the insert evenly and efficiently, and your material stays in the cup where it belongs instead of climbing the walls between hits.

Dr. Dabber documents the Titanium Insert as compatible with dry herb in addition to concentrates. We currently do not personally recommend using the Switch² Titanium Insert for dry herb. Our experience and focus is with concentrates, and that is where this insert performs best.
Anodizing passes an electrical current through titanium in an acid bath, growing an oxide layer on the surface. The thickness of that layer determines which wavelengths of light reflect back. No dyes. No coatings. The color is the metal. It also shifts under different lighting, which is why two people describing the same insert might call it different colors.
Because of that process, these colors are produced in small custom batches. Several of them are closely related with subtle differences between them, and the swatches below are representative approximations only. What you receive may not be an identical match to what is shown. Some colors may not be available at the time you order.
All three inserts are Switch²-only and precision-machined to the same 20mm diameter. The differences are in material properties — and those differences are real.

Switch² Titanium Insert
Medical-grade titanium cup, 20mm diameter, precision-machined for flush fitment in the Switch² induction well. Available in Natural or your choice of nine anodized colors. Anodized inserts receive the same cup with a surface oxide layer grown directly into the metal — no coating, no dye, no peeling.
|
Ready for Your First Session
Run two to three empty heat cycles at your normal temperature before loading material for the first time. This burns off any manufacturing residue and takes under a minute. After that the insert is ready to run. Swap it straight into your Switch² induction well, no adapters or tools needed.

Titanium is the fastest and most durable option. But if your priority is flavor purity or heat retention, the quartz and sapphire inserts are worth comparing before you decide.
|
Switch² Insert
Quartz Insert
Fast heat-up, excellent terpene preservation, and the benchmark flavor experience for concentrate dabbing. The included quartz cup that ships with your Switch² — also available as a standalone replacement or upgrade.
|
Switch² Insert
Sapphire Plus Insert
Single crystal lab-grown sapphire. Superior heat retention, even heat distribution, and chemically inert surface that does not alter concentrate flavor. The premium pick for flavor-first sessions. Handle with care.

The questions we actually get about this insert.
Does this fit the original Dr. Dabber Switch, not the Switch 2?
No. This insert is compatible with the Switch² only. The original Switch uses a different, smaller cup design. If you are not sure which version you own, look for the ² superscript on the device or check whether it has a USB-C port and the three dab mode selector buttons on the front. If you have those, you have the Switch².
Does anodizing affect performance or flavor?
Not in practice. The anodized layer is a metal oxide grown directly into the surface of the titanium, not a coating applied on top. It is thin, hard, and does not flake, peel, or off-gas at dabbing temperatures. Performance and flavor are the same as the natural titanium insert. The difference is cosmetic only.
That said, run your standard two to three empty heat cycles before the first load with any new insert, anodized or natural. It is a good habit regardless.
Will the anodized color fade over time?
Repeated high heat cycles will gradually shift the anodized color over time because heat adds to the oxide layer thickness. This is the same process that created the color in the first place. The shift is slow and happens over many sessions. Anodized titanium is not a static finish — it continues to evolve with use, which is part of the character of the material.
How do I clean the titanium insert?
After each session, swab the bowl while it is still warm. Residual heat keeps reclaim liquid and easy to lift. Do not add alcohol to a hot or warm cup. When buildup gets ahead of daily swabbing, remove the insert from the device and soak it in 90% or higher isopropyl alcohol for 20 to 30 minutes. Let it fully air-dry before reinstalling. Do not submerge the device base or expose the pins or threads to liquid.
Unlike sapphire, titanium can also be cleaned with a torch if needed — the material handles it without risk of cracking.
Titanium vs quartz — which should I get?
If you want the fastest response, maximum durability, and you are a daily driver who does not want to think about insert maintenance — titanium. If you want to preserve the natural terpene profile of your concentrates at the highest level and you are willing to clean after every session to keep the surface neutral — quartz. Both are solid options. The Sapphire Plus sits above both for flavor purity but requires the most careful handling and costs significantly more.
Can I run all three heat modes with the titanium insert?
Yes. Descent Mode, Ascent Mode, and Steady Mode all work with the titanium insert the same way they do with the stock quartz cup. Because titanium heats faster, some users find they can drop down one temperature level and still get the same vapor output they were getting with quartz at a higher setting. Start where you normally do and dial back from there if needed.
