Who Finished My Hash? Moodmat

The Print
Ring After Ring After Ring
Start at the center circle and work outward. Ring after ring of quartz banger style shapes radiate from the middle, each drawn with a silver tip and a colored body, repeating all the way around and growing as the pattern pushes toward the edges. The color runs the full rainbow in bands, red into orange into yellow into green into blue into violet, so the face of the mat shifts as your eye travels out from the middle. Orange spiral medallions sit in the gaps at regular intervals and keep the repetition from going flat.
The figure sits in the middle of all that. A young cartoon character with short pink spiky hair, dark markings under both eyes, a scar across the face and a red collared jacket, looking up and out of the frame with his eyes wide and blood on his skin. Above him a hand lettered speech bubble asks who finished the hash, in rough leaning capitals that were clearly drawn rather than typeset. The line is the joke and the mandala is what makes the thing worth hanging.
It is a flat screen print in standard ink with no UV anywhere in it, which makes the density more impressive rather than less. There is no lighting trick and no second state to fall back on. Everything this mat does, it does in normal light on an eight inch square of reclaimed rubber, and it is the busiest print we have written up.

Kwade signs this one on the back, under a tall white emblem of a dagger with a snake coiled around it, beside the moodmats wordmark and a hand inked number box. The handle screened there is @DENNISKWADE, which is how we corrected the spelling on our own sheet. We are not going to write a biography we cannot source, so what we will say is that the drawing on the front is his and the density of it is unusual even in a category built on busy art.

Rubber That Already Had a First Life
Moodmats started with scraps from old wetsuits and discarded scuba and surf neoprene, material that was headed straight for a landfill. That became Lava Rubber, and Lava Rubber is what every Moodmat is cut from. The feedstock now comes from wetsuits, gaskets, weatherstripping, seat molds, and other clean scrap that gets collected or donated. More than two tons of it moves through the New Jersey shop every month, gets pressed into sheet stock, then die-cut and screen printed. Keeping that material out of the ground has been the point from day one.
Closed-Cell Neoprene
Closed-cell rubber does not drink up what you spill on it. Water, reclaim, and terp splash sit on the surface instead of soaking in, so a wipe with soapy water puts it back to new.
It Stays Put
The rubber grips whatever it is sitting on and grips whatever you set on top. A rig that would skate across a glass table or a finished desk stops moving the second it lands on a Moodmat.
Tough and Self-Extinguishing
Heat resistant, self-extinguishing, and built out of material that already survived a first life. This is not a printed coaster that curls after a month on the table.

Why It Matters
Runs End. Prints Do Not Come Back.
Moodmats print in runs, and runs end. Once a design is out, it is out. Artist collabs and drop exclusives regularly land in quantities of ten to twenty five pieces, which is why the people who collect these track drops, trade them, and frame the ones they will never put a rig on. If this specific print matters to you, the time to grab it is while it is still on the shelf.
Forty Made, Hand Numbered on the Back
Forty is the whole production for this design and the back carries a hand inked number box over 40 to show it. We quote the run and stop there. Our sheet does not record which one of the forty this is, and inventing a position in a run is not something we do. The back photo on this listing is of the actual piece, so the figure is there to read.
No Reprints
Moodmats does not go back and run a sold-out design again. When this one is gone from our shelf and theirs, the only way to get it is from somebody who already has one.
Worth Hanging
A print this limited does not have to earn its keep under a rig. Plenty of these end up on a wall, in a frame, or stacked with the rest of a collection.

Wipe it down with warm water and a little dish soap, then let it air dry flat. That is the whole routine. Do not run it through a washing machine or a dryer, do not scrub the print with an abrasive pad, and do not rest a lit torch or a glowing-hot banger directly on the surface. Use a stand or a puck for anything still at temperature.

Know Before You Buy
Upcycled Means Variation
The rubber is reclaimed scrap, so base color, speckle, and surface texture shift slightly from sheet to sheet. Two mats of the same design will not be photocopies of each other. That is how you know it is the real material and not virgin stock.
Heat Resistant, Not Heatproof
The rubber is self-extinguishing and handles warm gear without complaint. It is not a torch pad. Park anything still glowing on a proper stand or a quartz puck, not on the print.
No UV on This One
Standard ink, full color, no reactive application anywhere in the print. A blacklight does nothing to it. Plenty of Moodmats do light up and this is not one of them, and we would rather say so now than have you plug in a lamp and wonder what you did wrong.
Fine Detail on a Textured Face
The rubber is reclaimed scrap with a slightly rough, speckled surface, and this design has more fine line packed into eight inches than anything else we stock. It comes through cleanly, but it is sitting on texture rather than on smooth paper. Up close it reads more like a woven patch than a poster.
The Number Is on the Back, Not in the Copy
We list the run of 40 and leave it there. Each of these carries a different hand inked figure and we are not going to type one into a listing and get it wrong. The back photo is of the actual mat that ships, so if the number matters to you, read it off the picture before you buy.
