The Print
Four Profiles in Four Windows
The layout is the first thing you notice. A wide margin of bare black rubber runs all the way around the square, and inside it sit four printed panels with rounded corners in a two by two grid. Each panel is a mottled off white field that reads like a scuffed concrete wall. Thin, widely letterspaced white capitals run across the top margin and again across the bottom, so the lettering sits on the rubber rather than on the art. Nothing bleeds off the edge of the mat, which is unusual for a print this busy and is what keeps it from looking crowded.
Every figure is a bust, every one faces left, and every one is drawn the same way: heavy uniform black outline, flat cel color, soft airbrushed shading underneath. Top left is a bald yellow skinned man with two curls left on the crown, a heavy jowl and an overbite, stubble dots along the jaw, one drooping bloodshot half lidded eye, and in place of the far eye a round pale green patch stitched shut with a cross stitch seam and two X marks. The digits 710 run vertically down the temple beside it, over a magenta popped collar. Top right is a spiky haired yellow boy in a red, orange and purple striped beanie with a black and yellow pom, an olive collared shirt, and a lit joint clenched in the corner of the mouth, with a broad green to blue banded smoke ribbon winding behind him and back across in front.
Bottom left is a yellow skinned woman whose towering cobalt beehive runs straight off the top of the panel. A red capped, cream gilled mushroom grows out of the front of the hair with mint green sprouts on long stalks either side of it, the visible eye is wide and glassy, and mint green drool runs down the chin over a strand of white pearls and a blue dress with a black collar. Bottom right is a yellow skinned girl with spiked star point hair under a slouched brown bucket hat banded in pink and lavender, a small blue and white enamel pin at the crown, a heavy lidded lashed eye, a white, pink and blue bead necklace, a purple top, and a blue to green smoke ribbon exhaled off the right edge of the panel. The print is standard ink with no UV in it, the registration is tight, the color is well saturated, and the rounded panel corners are crisp all the way around.

Two credits are screened on the back, joined by an x. Dark Mountain Cult sits at the top under a row of moths with the studio script and its handle, followed by the second credit in an arched gothic lockup with its own handle, then the moodmats wordmark, a live sale exclusive line and the hand inked number box. Which of the two actually drew the piece is not stated anywhere on it, so we are not going to guess. Both names are on the mat and both get the credit.

Rubber That Already Had a First Life
Moodmats started with scraps from old wetsuits and discarded scuba and surf neoprene, material that was headed straight for a landfill. That became Lava Rubber, and Lava Rubber is what every Moodmat is cut from. The feedstock now comes from wetsuits, gaskets, weatherstripping, seat molds, and other clean scrap that gets collected or donated. More than two tons of it moves through the New Jersey shop every month, gets pressed into sheet stock, then die-cut and screen printed. Keeping that material out of the ground has been the point from day one.
Closed-Cell Neoprene
Closed-cell rubber does not drink up what you spill on it. Water, reclaim, and terp splash sit on the surface instead of soaking in, so a wipe with soapy water puts it back to new.
It Stays Put
The rubber grips whatever it is sitting on and grips whatever you set on top. A rig that would skate across a glass table or a finished desk stops moving the second it lands on a Moodmat.
Tough and Self-Extinguishing
Heat resistant, self-extinguishing, and built out of material that already survived a first life. This is not a printed coaster that curls after a month on the table.

Why It Matters
Runs End. Prints Do Not Come Back.
Moodmats print in runs, and runs end. Once a design is out, it is out. Artist collabs and drop exclusives regularly land in quantities of ten to twenty five pieces, which is why the people who collect these track drops, trade them, and frame the ones they will never put a rig on. If this specific print matters to you, the time to grab it is while it is still on the shelf.
Twenty Five Made, and It Went Out in a Live Sale
The back prints a live sale exclusive line under the makers’ marks and the moodmats wordmark, and next to it a number box filled in by hand out of twenty five. Two separate pieces of evidence on the same square of rubber, which is better than either one on its own. Twenty five is the entire production, this design never had a store page, and the only ones in circulation went to people who were watching when it went out. We quote the run and not the figure inside it, because the figure changes piece to piece.
No Reprints
Moodmats does not go back and run a sold-out design again. When this one is gone from our shelf and theirs, the only way to get it is from somebody who already has one.
Worth Hanging
A print this limited does not have to earn its keep under a rig. Plenty of these end up on a wall, in a frame, or stacked with the rest of a collection.

Wipe it down with warm water and a little dish soap, then let it air dry flat. That is the whole routine. Do not run it through a washing machine or a dryer, do not scrub the print with an abrasive pad, and do not rest a lit torch or a glowing-hot banger directly on the surface. Use a stand or a puck for anything still at temperature.

Know Before You Buy
Upcycled Means Variation
The rubber is reclaimed scrap, so base color, speckle, and surface texture shift slightly from sheet to sheet. Two mats of the same design will not be photocopies of each other. That is how you know it is the real material and not virgin stock.
Heat Resistant, Not Heatproof
The rubber is self-extinguishing and handles warm gear without complaint. It is not a torch pad. Park anything still glowing on a proper stand or a quartz puck, not on the print.
No UV on This One
Standard ink, flat color, no reactive application anywhere in the print. A blacklight does nothing to it. Plenty of Moodmats do light up under one and this is not among them, and we would rather say so now than have you plug in a lamp and wonder what went wrong.
Square, Not Die Cut
This is a clean eight by eight square with square corners and a wide band of bare black rubber framing the printed panels. No irregular outline, no narrow sections, uniform footprint. If you have been buying the die cut pieces, this one stacks flat and behaves differently on a shelf.
Two on Hand, and the Numbers Differ
We have two of these and each one carries its own hand inked figure on the back, so the photos show one of the pair rather than the specific mat that will ship to you. The print is identical between them. The inked number is not, and the reclaimed rubber underneath shifts in speckle from sheet to sheet even inside a run of twenty five.
