The Print
Somebody Printed the Men’s Room Wall
Here is what is on it. A section of brick wall, cut out along a stepped ragged edge like a chunk that came away from a building, with the plumbing behind it left open to view. Pipe runs cross the middle in a tangle, complete with elbows, traps, unions and a couple of valves, drawn with enough care that a plumber would recognise the fittings. A wall mounted urinal hangs at the right hand end, still connected. A spigot pokes out of the lower left and sticks past the edge of the cut. The bricks alternate coral red and pale green course by course, the pipework is a single solid tone against them, and there is no lettering or signature anywhere on the piece.
Yes, it is a urinal. That is the joke, it is delivered completely straight, and the drawing is not winking at you about it. Nothing here is crude and nothing is exaggerated for a laugh. It is an ordinary bathroom wall rendered with the seriousness of a technical illustration, and the humor is entirely in the decision to render it at all. Either that lands for you immediately or it does not, and we suspect you already know which.
Then the lights go out and it stops being a plumbing diagram. The brickwork burns hot coral orange with pale green scattered irregularly through the courses, which gives the wall depth it does not have in daylight, and every pipe run, every fitting and the fixture come up bright violet blue on top of it. The two react at different temperatures, so the plumbing stays legible as a separate layer instead of flooding out into the wall the way a single tone print would. It is the best looking version of this piece and it is the version in the photograph.

Rubber That Already Had a First Life
Moodmats started with scraps from old wetsuits and discarded scuba and surf neoprene, material that was headed straight for a landfill. That became Lava Rubber, and Lava Rubber is what every Moodmat is cut from. The feedstock now comes from wetsuits, gaskets, weatherstripping, seat molds, and other clean scrap that gets collected or donated. More than two tons of it moves through the New Jersey shop every month, gets pressed into sheet stock, then die-cut and screen printed. Keeping that material out of the ground has been the point from day one.
Closed-Cell Neoprene
Closed-cell rubber does not drink up what you spill on it. Water, reclaim, and terp splash sit on the surface instead of soaking in, so a wipe with soapy water puts it back to new.
It Stays Put
The rubber grips whatever it is sitting on and grips whatever you set on top. A rig that would skate across a glass table or a finished desk stops moving the second it lands on a Moodmat.
Tough and Self-Extinguishing
Heat resistant, self-extinguishing, and built out of material that already survived a first life. This is not a printed coaster that curls after a month on the table.

Wipe it down with warm water and a little dish soap, then let it air dry flat. That is the whole routine. Do not run it through a washing machine or a dryer, do not scrub the print with an abrasive pad, and do not rest a lit torch or a glowing-hot banger directly on the surface. Use a stand or a puck for anything still at temperature.

Upcycled Means Variation
The rubber is reclaimed scrap, so base color, speckle, and surface texture shift slightly from sheet to sheet. Two mats of the same design will not be photocopies of each other. That is how you know it is the real material and not virgin stock.
Heat Resistant, Not Heatproof
The rubber is self-extinguishing and handles warm gear without complaint. It is not a torch pad. Park anything still glowing on a proper stand or a quartz puck, not on the print.
The Photo on This Page Is Under Blacklight
We have to be straight about this one. The only image we have of this mat was shot under a lamp, so what you are looking at is the lit state, not the normal light state. In daylight it is a brick wall in coral red and pale green with a single tone pipe run across it, and it will read a lot quieter than the photo does. A daylight shot is on our list and this page gets updated the day we have it.
UV Needs a Blacklight
Reactive ink is not glow in the dark. It does not charge up in daylight and shine on its own in a dark room. It needs a 365nm or 395nm blacklight on it, and with one on it this print performs. Without one you have a well drawn brick wall, which is fine, but it is not the reason to buy it.
Die-Cut Means Irregular Edges
The outline steps and jags around the brickwork rather than following a rectangle, so the listed eleven by eight is the widest point in each direction and not a uniform footprint. The spigot at the lower left is the narrowest section of rubber on the piece, and the stepped corners are the next narrowest. Handle those the way you would handle any narrow section of rubber.
