UV Runner Moodmat

The Print
Sixteen Inches of Flower of Life
Start with the shape, because the shape is the reason to buy this one. Sixteen inches wide by seven deep is a runner, not a pad. It lies lengthwise along the back of a bar top, across the working edge of a dab station, or on the front lip of a shelf, and it holds three or four pieces standing in a row instead of a single rig parked in the middle. Nearly everything else in this catalog is square, round or close to it, and none of it does this. If you have a length of surface you want to protect and fill, this is the piece that fits it.
The print is the Flower of Life, the old overlapping circle construction where every circle passes through the centers of the ones around it and the intersections resolve into six petal rosettes. It runs full bleed, edge to edge, top to bottom, with no lettering anywhere and no single focal point, which is exactly what lets it read as a border across a long surface rather than as a picture you are supposed to stand and look at. The line work carries a gradient along the length of the mat, teal green at one end, through yellow green and gold in the middle, into orange red at the far end. The ground behind it is black.
Then the lights go out. This is one of the strongest reactive prints we have handled, and the reason is that the coverage is total. Every line in the pattern lights at full saturation with no dull or dead sections anywhere in the run of it, and the black ground stays flat and dark instead of fogging up the way a weaker print does. What you are left with is pure line work floating on nothing, sixteen inches of it, and the geometry reads better in the dark than it does in the light.

Rubber That Already Had a First Life
Moodmats started with scraps from old wetsuits and discarded scuba and surf neoprene, material that was headed straight for a landfill. That became Lava Rubber, and Lava Rubber is what every Moodmat is cut from. The feedstock now comes from wetsuits, gaskets, weatherstripping, seat molds, and other clean scrap that gets collected or donated. More than two tons of it moves through the New Jersey shop every month, gets pressed into sheet stock, then die-cut and screen printed. Keeping that material out of the ground has been the point from day one.
Closed-Cell Neoprene
Closed-cell rubber does not drink up what you spill on it. Water, reclaim, and terp splash sit on the surface instead of soaking in, so a wipe with soapy water puts it back to new.
It Stays Put
The rubber grips whatever it is sitting on and grips whatever you set on top. A rig that would skate across a glass table or a finished desk stops moving the second it lands on a Moodmat.
Tough and Self-Extinguishing
Heat resistant, self-extinguishing, and built out of material that already survived a first life. This is not a printed coaster that curls after a month on the table.

Moodmats print in runs, and runs end. Once a design is out, it is out. Artist collabs and drop exclusives regularly land in quantities of ten to twenty five pieces, which is why the people who collect these track drops, trade them, and frame the ones they will never put a rig on. If this specific print matters to you, the time to grab it is while it is still on the shelf.
A Run of Twenty Five, and Where That Number Comes From
The intake sheet puts this at twenty five pieces, released through a live sale rather than a store page. We will be straight with you about the evidence behind that. There is no back photo of this mat, so unlike some of our other pieces there is no photographed number box standing behind the figure. The run size and the drop status are what the sheet says, and we are quoting it as exactly that rather than dressing it up as something proven on the rubber.
No Reprints
Moodmats does not go back and run a sold-out design again. When this one is gone from our shelf and theirs, the only way to get it is from somebody who already has one.
Worth Hanging
A print this limited does not have to earn its keep under a rig. Plenty of these end up on a wall, in a frame, or stacked with the rest of a collection.

Wipe it down with warm water and a little dish soap, then let it air dry flat. That is the whole routine. Do not run it through a washing machine or a dryer, do not scrub the print with an abrasive pad, and do not rest a lit torch or a glowing-hot banger directly on the surface. Use a stand or a puck for anything still at temperature.

Know Before You Buy
Upcycled Means Variation
The rubber is reclaimed scrap, so base color, speckle, and surface texture shift slightly from sheet to sheet. Two mats of the same design will not be photocopies of each other. That is how you know it is the real material and not virgin stock.
Heat Resistant, Not Heatproof
The rubber is self-extinguishing and handles warm gear without complaint. It is not a torch pad. Park anything still glowing on a proper stand or a quartz puck, not on the print.
UV Needs a Blacklight
The glow is not glow in the dark. It will not charge up in daylight and shine on its own in a dark room. Reactive ink needs a 365nm or 395nm blacklight on it, and with one on it this print is one of the best in the category. Without one it is a colored geometric pattern on black, which is fine, but it is not what you are paying for.

We have to be straight about this one. The only image we have of this mat was shot under a blacklight, so what you are looking at is the lit state and not the normal light state. In daylight this is colored line work on black rubber and it will read quieter than the photo does. A daylight shot is on our list and this page gets updated the day we have it.
A Runner Is Not a Rig Pad
Seven inches deep is shallow. A tall rig with a wide base will overhang front to back on this, and that is not what it was built for. It is built to run along a length and hold several pieces side by side. Measure the shelf or the bar edge before you order, because sixteen inches wants a real run of surface.
