The Print
A Kiwi Cut in Half, Then Cut Again by a Blacklight
In normal light this is a straight photo real cross section of a kiwi, printed to the edge of a three inch circle so the fruit fills the whole face. The core is a pale cream oval at dead center, and thin white fibers radiate out of it through bright green flesh the way they actually do in a kiwi, which is the detail that sells the illusion. Around that sits the ring of black seeds, evenly spaced, and outside the seeds a thin tan band of skin closes the circle. Black rubber forms the rim. There is no lettering on it anywhere, no logo and no border art, which is unusual in this catalog and is why it reads as a piece of fruit sitting on the table rather than a printed graphic.
Then somebody turns on a blacklight and the picture flips. This is the strongest reactive print in the batch and the reason to own it. The green flesh and every one of those white fibers blaze neon green at full saturation, the cream core lifts into a hot yellow green, the black seed ring sinks to near black, and the tan skin edge lights a faint orange around the outside. The important part is that the contrast reverses rather than intensifies. Things that were pale in daylight are the brightest objects on the piece, and things that were merely dark go to nothing, so under a lamp you are looking at a different image of the same fruit. Reactive ink placed that deliberately, element by element, is a print somebody designed for the lamp rather than one that happens to react.
The object itself is worth a sentence. Three inches is small, round, and the section is thick, so it does not lie flat and disappear the way a printed mat does. It sits proud of the surface like a puck, which is exactly what you want under a cold glass or under the foot of a small rig, and it is the same closed cell rubber as everything else here, so it grips the table and wipes clean. Set a drink on it, set a jar on it, set one small piece on it. That is the job.

Rubber That Already Had a First Life
Moodmats started with scraps from old wetsuits and discarded scuba and surf neoprene, material that was headed straight for a landfill. That became Lava Rubber, and Lava Rubber is what every Moodmat is cut from. The feedstock now comes from wetsuits, gaskets, weatherstripping, seat molds, and other clean scrap that gets collected or donated. More than two tons of it moves through the New Jersey shop every month, gets pressed into sheet stock, then die-cut and screen printed. Keeping that material out of the ground has been the point from day one.
Closed-Cell Neoprene
Closed-cell rubber does not drink up what you spill on it. Water, reclaim, and terp splash sit on the surface instead of soaking in, so a wipe with soapy water puts it back to new.
It Stays Put
The rubber grips whatever it is sitting on and grips whatever you set on top. A rig that would skate across a glass table or a finished desk stops moving the second it lands on a Moodmat.
Tough and Self-Extinguishing

Wipe it down with warm water and a little dish soap, then let it air dry flat. That is the whole routine. Do not run it through a washing machine or a dryer, do not scrub the print with an abrasive pad, and do not rest a lit torch or a glowing-hot banger directly on the surface. Use a stand or a puck for anything still at temperature.

Know Before You Buy
Upcycled Means Variation
The rubber is reclaimed scrap, so base color, speckle, and surface texture shift slightly from sheet to sheet. Two mats of the same design will not be photocopies of each other. That is how you know it is the real material and not virgin stock.
Heat Resistant, Not Heatproof
The rubber is self-extinguishing and handles warm gear without complaint. It is not a torch pad. Park anything still glowing on a proper stand or a quartz puck, not on the print.
Three Inches Is Smaller Than You Think
This is the one thing to get right before you order. Three inches is a coaster footprint, about the size of the bottom of a pint glass. It takes a drink, a jar, a concentrate container or the base of one small rig, and that is the whole list. A full rig with a wide foot will overhang it and a banger has nowhere to go. Nothing on this page is a dab mat claim, and if you want a working surface, the eight inch and eleven inch pieces in this category are what you are after.
UV Needs a Blacklight
Reactive is not glow in the dark. It does not charge up in daylight and shine on its own in a dark room. It needs a 365nm or 395nm blacklight on it, and with one on it this is the best reactive print in the group. Without one it is a very good picture of a kiwi.
