About thirty pastel neon bats, crescent moons and stars on a black night sky, printed edge to edge on five inches of recycled rubber, and all of it reacts under a blacklight.
The Print
A Night Sky With No Edges
The design is an all over night sky pattern and it bleeds off all four sides, which is the first thing to understand about it. There is no margin of bare rubber anywhere on the face, so the black you see between the shapes is not a border, it is the sky the bats are flying in. Roughly thirty of them cross the field at wildly different scales, in a pastel neon spectrum that runs bubblegum pink, hot pink, lilac, lavender, violet, periwinkle, cobalt, sky blue, cyan, aqua, mint and seafoam, plus one lone butter yellow bat.
There is a hero to it. Upper left of centre sits a large bat drawn front on with its scalloped wings fully spread, graded pink into lavender, with a gold body, a fine gold outline and gold ribs through the wings. It is the only warm outlined bat in the whole design and your eye goes to it first every time. To its right, a large crescent moon with the horns opening right is filled flat spring green and teal, with a lavender bat crossing its face and four point sparkles sitting in the cup of it. A pink and lavender crescent sits in the lower left corner with a blue bat across it, and a fourth crescent is cut in half by the lower right corner. Five point stars and four point sparkles in coral orange, chartreuse, cyan, lilac and white pink fill everything in between. The drawing is flat vector style work, solid fills, no shading, with thin same hue rib lines only on the larger wings. There is no lettering anywhere on it, no signature and no maker mark.
The print is UV reactive across the whole palette and we have it photographed under a lamp as well as in daylight. Because the black ground does not react, the lit state is the same composition with every bat, crescent, star and sparkle burning and the sky gone to nothing, which is about as clean a reactive effect as this catalog gets. In ordinary light it is a bright, dense pattern print. Under a blacklight it is the same picture floating with nothing behind it.

Rubber That Already Had a First Life
Moodmats started with scraps from old wetsuits and discarded scuba and surf neoprene, material that was headed straight for a landfill. That became Lava Rubber, and Lava Rubber is what every Moodmat is cut from. The feedstock now comes from wetsuits, gaskets, weatherstripping, seat molds, and other clean scrap that gets collected or donated. More than two tons of it moves through the New Jersey shop every month, gets pressed into sheet stock, then die-cut and screen printed. Keeping that material out of the ground has been the point from day one.
Closed-Cell Neoprene
Closed-cell rubber does not drink up what you spill on it. Water, reclaim, and terp splash sit on the surface instead of soaking in, so a wipe with soapy water puts it back to new.
It Stays Put
The rubber grips whatever it is sitting on and grips whatever you set on top. A rig that would skate across a glass table or a finished desk stops moving the second it lands on a Moodmat.
Tough and Self-Extinguishing
Heat resistant, self-extinguishing, and built out of material that already survived a first life. This is not a printed coaster that curls after a month on the table.

Wipe it down with warm water and a little dish soap, then let it air dry flat. That is the whole routine. Do not run it through a washing machine or a dryer, do not scrub the print with an abrasive pad, and do not rest a lit torch or a glowing-hot banger directly on the surface. Use a stand or a puck for anything still at temperature.

Know Before You Buy
Upcycled Means Variation
The rubber is reclaimed scrap, so base color, speckle, and surface texture shift slightly from sheet to sheet. Two mats of the same design will not be photocopies of each other. That is how you know it is the real material and not virgin stock.
Heat Resistant, Not Heatproof
The rubber is self-extinguishing and handles warm gear without complaint. It is not a torch pad. Park anything still glowing on a proper stand or a quartz puck, not on the print.
UV Needs a Blacklight
Reactive is not glow in the dark. It does not charge up in daylight and shine on its own in a dark room. It needs a 365nm or 395nm blacklight on it, the sort of tube or bar people run behind a rig, and with one on it this print does what the second photo on this page shows. Without one it is a very good bat print on black.
Five Inches Is Small, So Know What Fits
This is a five inch square. That is a small footprint: a jar, a puck of concentrate, a drink, a torch, or the base of one small rig. It is not a working surface with room for a rig, a banger and a tray all at once. If that is what you are after, the eight inch and eleven inch pieces in this category are the ones to look at, and this one is a good companion piece to sit alongside them.
The Same Artwork Comes in a Three Inch Round

It is not the same object cut down: the round trim crops the corner crescents away and recomposes the pattern for a circle, so the two genuinely look different side by side.
