The Print
A Night Sky Cut Into a Circle
Start with what the object is, because it is the thing most likely to be misread. This is a three inch round of recycled rubber. That is coaster size, wide enough for a glass, a jar, a concentrate container or one small piece standing on it, and it is not a mat you work on. Everything below is about the print, and the print is genuinely good, but the footprint is what it is and we would rather say so at the top than take a return later.
The artwork is a night sky composed for a circle, and it bleeds to the trim the whole way around with no bare rubber border, so the black between the shapes is the sky rather than a frame. Across the top centre spreads the hero bat, drawn front on with scalloped wings graded pink into lavender, a mustard body and a fine gold outline, the only warm outlined bat on the piece. Centre right sits a crescent moon with its horns opening right, filled flat spring green and teal, with a lavender and pink bat crossing its face and small sparkles in the cup of it. Around them roughly twenty five smaller bats fill the disc at varied scales and angles in bubblegum pink, hot pink, lilac, violet, periwinkle, cobalt, cyan, aqua, mint and seafoam, with one butter yellow bat down at the bottom centre right. Five point stars and four point sparkles in coral orange, chartreuse, cyan and lilac fill the gaps. Flat solid fills, no shading, no lettering, no signature and no maker mark anywhere on it.
The whole palette is UV reactive and we have the lit state photographed. Because the black ground does nothing under the lamp, what you see is every bat, crescent, star and sparkle burning and the sky gone, which is about as clean as a reactive print gets. One more thing worth knowing: we stock a five inch square of this same artwork as a separate item, and this round is not that design shrunk down. The circular trim crops the corner crescents away and the pattern is recomposed for the disc, so the two really do look different next to each other.

Rubber That Already Had a First Life
Moodmats started with scraps from old wetsuits and discarded scuba and surf neoprene, material that was headed straight for a landfill. That became Lava Rubber, and Lava Rubber is what every Moodmat is cut from. The feedstock now comes from wetsuits, gaskets, weatherstripping, seat molds, and other clean scrap that gets collected or donated. More than two tons of it moves through the New Jersey shop every month, gets pressed into sheet stock, then die-cut and screen printed. Keeping that material out of the ground has been the point from day one.
Closed-Cell Neoprene
Closed-cell rubber does not drink up what you spill on it. Water, reclaim, and terp splash sit on the surface instead of soaking in, so a wipe with soapy water puts it back to new.
It Stays Put
The rubber grips whatever it is sitting on and grips whatever you set on top. A rig that would skate across a glass table or a finished desk stops moving the second it lands on a Moodmat.
Tough and Self-Extinguishing
Heat resistant, self-extinguishing, and built out of material that already survived a first life. This is not a printed coaster that curls after a month on the table.

Wipe it down with warm water and a little dish soap, then let it air dry flat. That is the whole routine. Do not run it through a washing machine or a dryer, do not scrub the print with an abrasive pad, and do not rest a lit torch or a glowing-hot banger directly on the surface. Use a stand or a puck for anything still at temperature.

Know Before You Buy
Upcycled Means Variation
The rubber is reclaimed scrap, so base color, speckle, and surface texture shift slightly from sheet to sheet. Two mats of the same design will not be photocopies of each other. That is how you know it is the real material and not virgin stock.
Heat Resistant, Not Heatproof
The rubber is self-extinguishing and handles warm gear without complaint. It is not a torch pad. Park anything still glowing on a proper stand or a quartz puck, not on the print.
Three Inches Is Smaller Than You Think
This is the one thing to get right before you order. Three inches is a coaster footprint, about the size of the bottom of a pint glass. It takes a drink, a jar, a concentrate container or one small piece, and that is the whole list. A rig with a wide foot will overhang it and a banger has nowhere to go. Nothing on this page is a dab mat claim, and if you want a working surface then the eight inch and eleven inch pieces in this category are what you are after.
UV Needs a Blacklight
Reactive is not glow in the dark. It does not charge up in daylight and shine on its own in a dark room. It needs a 365nm or 395nm blacklight on it, and with one on it this print does what the second photo on this page shows. Without one it is a very good bat print on black.
The Square Version Is a Different Picture
We stock a 5 inch square of this same artwork as a separate item, and it is not simply the bigger version of what you see here. The round trim crops the square’s corner crescents away and the pattern sits differently in a circle, so the compositions genuinely differ. Buy the pair if you want both, but do not buy this one expecting the square in miniature.
