The Print
Forty Nine Tiles, No Two Alike
The design is a grid and the grid is the point. Seven tiles across, seven down, each one drawn as its own complete little composition. Eight point stars sit next to open rosettes, next to scrolling vine borders, next to quartered florals, next to radial bursts that read like a compass rose. Some are built on a white ground, some on marigold, some on cobalt, and a few on deep red or green, so the whole sheet has a shifting checkerboard rhythm underneath the pattern work.
The palette stays disciplined across all forty nine. Cobalt blue, marigold yellow, tomato red, leaf green and white, laid in flat with dark outlines, in the manner of hand painted glazed tile from the Spanish and Mexican traditions. The dark rubber is left exposed in thin lines between the squares, which does the job of grout and keeps every tile visually separate instead of letting the sheet blur into one texture.
It is the least literal mat in everything we picked up in this drop, and that is a feature. There is no character, no scene and no joke on it. It is a surface with good pattern work, so it does not fight whatever you set on top of it, and it looks at home on a coffee table or a kitchen counter in a way that a cartoon print does not. There is no UV on it either.

Rubber That Already Had a First Life
Moodmats started with scraps from old wetsuits and discarded scuba and surf neoprene, material that was headed straight for a landfill. That became Lava Rubber, and Lava Rubber is what every Moodmat is cut from. The feedstock now comes from wetsuits, gaskets, weatherstripping, seat molds, and other clean scrap that gets collected or donated. More than two tons of it moves through the New Jersey shop every month, gets pressed into sheet stock, then die-cut and screen printed. Keeping that material out of the ground has been the point from day one.
Closed-Cell Neoprene
Closed-cell rubber does not drink up what you spill on it. Water, reclaim, and terp splash sit on the surface instead of soaking in, so a wipe with soapy water puts it back to new.
It Stays Put
The rubber grips whatever it is sitting on and grips whatever you set on top. A rig that would skate across a glass table or a finished desk stops moving the second it lands on a Moodmat.
Tough and Self-Extinguishing
Heat resistant, self-extinguishing, and built out of material that already survived a first life. This is not a printed coaster that curls after a month on the table.

Wipe it down with warm water and a little dish soap, then let it air dry flat. That is the whole routine. Do not run it through a washing machine or a dryer, do not scrub the print with an abrasive pad, and do not rest a lit torch or a glowing-hot banger directly on the surface. Use a stand or a puck for anything still at temperature.

Upcycled Means Variation
The rubber is reclaimed scrap, so base color, speckle, and surface texture shift slightly from sheet to sheet. Two mats of the same design will not be photocopies of each other. That is how you know it is the real material and not virgin stock.
Heat Resistant, Not Heatproof
The rubber is self-extinguishing and handles warm gear without complaint. It is not a torch pad. Park anything still glowing on a proper stand or a quartz puck, not on the print.
No UV on This One
Standard ink, full color, no reactive application. A blacklight does nothing to it. Several Moodmats do glow, this print is not one of them, and we would rather say so up front than have you plug in a lamp and wonder.
It Is a Print, Not Tile
It reads as glazed ceramic in a photo and it is not. The surface is flat, soft closed-cell rubber, the grout lines are printed rather than recessed, and there is no gloss on it. That is the right material for a mat, since actual tile would chip your glass, but it is worth knowing what your hand will find when it lands on it.
Three On Hand, So Yours Will Vary Slightly
We have three of these rather than one, and they are the same print. The rubber underneath is reclaimed scrap, so the base speckle and the exact shade of the dark grout lines shift a little sheet to sheet. The one you receive will not be the identical piece in the photo, and it will not be far off either.
