The Print
Two Dogs, Neither of Them Doing Well
The head at the back is a big brown gold dog of the Great Dane sort, drawn with a tan muzzle, three dot freckles on the snout and a black nose patch. One ear folds over and the other stands up in a point, both of them lined hot pink on the inside. The eyes are the giveaway: red ringed, shot through, sitting a little wider open than they need to be. Three thick bright blue drool drips run out of the mouth and down across a mustard yellow chest ruff, which is the loudest thing on the mat in daylight and, as it turns out, in the dark as well.
In front of him and lower down sits a second dog face, pale cream, with heavy half lidded eyes, jowly cheeks that hang off the skull, a mint colored gumline and a long pink tongue that lolls well past the chin. There is no lettering anywhere on the print, no signature and no border device, so the two faces carry the whole composition on their own. Everything is heavy black outline and flat cel fill with no shading, and the panel behind them is a flat spring green with a soft cyan drop shadow sitting under the heads. The green panel is inset rather than full bleed, so about half an inch of bare black rubber frames the art on all four sides.
Then the lamp goes on and the picture takes itself apart. This is a strong reactive print and a selective one. The green field lifts to mint aqua, the drool drips go electric blue violet, and the ear inners, the eyes and the tongue all burn fluorescent magenta. The brown gold fur and every black outline go dead. The dogs do not simply glow brighter, they come apart into a handful of floating features on a lit field, which is a different image rather than a louder version of the same one. Registration is tight across the whole print and there is no ink pooling anywhere, so the lit state reads clean instead of smeared.

The back of the mat carries the studio’s mark, BORN READY DESIGNS stacked in white drip horror lettering, next to the moodmats wordmark, with a number box inked in by hand underneath. That is the whole of what the piece tells us about who made it, and it is enough. The drawing is consistent with the rest of their work we have handled: heavy black line, flat saturated color, and a complete willingness to let a familiar looking cartoon fall apart on the page.

Rubber That Already Had a First Life
Moodmats started with scraps from old wetsuits and discarded scuba and surf neoprene, material that was headed straight for a landfill. That became Lava Rubber, and Lava Rubber is what every Moodmat is cut from. The feedstock now comes from wetsuits, gaskets, weatherstripping, seat molds, and other clean scrap that gets collected or donated. More than two tons of it moves through the New Jersey shop every month, gets pressed into sheet stock, then die-cut and screen printed. Keeping that material out of the ground has been the point from day one.
Closed-Cell Neoprene
Closed-cell rubber does not drink up what you spill on it. Water, reclaim, and terp splash sit on the surface instead of soaking in, so a wipe with soapy water puts it back to new.
It Stays Put
The rubber grips whatever it is sitting on and grips whatever you set on top. A rig that would skate across a glass table or a finished desk stops moving the second it lands on a Moodmat.
Tough and Self-Extinguishing
Heat resistant, self-extinguishing, and built out of material that already survived a first life. This is not a printed coaster that curls after a month on the table.

Why It Matters
Runs End. Prints Do Not Come Back.
Moodmats print in runs, and runs end. Once a design is out, it is out. Artist collabs and drop exclusives regularly land in quantities of ten to twenty five pieces, which is why the people who collect these track drops, trade them, and frame the ones they will never put a rig on. If this specific print matters to you, the time to grab it is while it is still on the shelf.
Twenty Five Made, and Five of Them Are Here
Twenty five is the entire production for this design. The back is screened with the studio mark and the moodmats wordmark and then hand inked with a number out of twenty five, which is a person with a pen rather than a counter on a press. We quote the run and not the figure inside it, because there are five of these on our shelf and the number is different on every one. Five out of twenty five is an unusually large share of a run to have sitting in one shop, and you can read that whichever way you like.
No Reprints
Moodmats does not go back and run a sold-out design again. When this one is gone from our shelf and theirs, the only way to get it is from somebody who already has one.
Worth Hanging
A print this limited does not have to earn its keep under a rig. Plenty of these end up on a wall, in a frame, or stacked with the rest of a collection.

Wipe it down with warm water and a little dish soap, then let it air dry flat. That is the whole routine. Do not run it through a washing machine or a dryer, do not scrub the print with an abrasive pad, and do not rest a lit torch or a glowing-hot banger directly on the surface. Use a stand or a puck for anything still at temperature.

Know Before You Buy
Upcycled Means Variation
The rubber is reclaimed scrap, so base color, speckle, and surface texture shift slightly from sheet to sheet. Two mats of the same design will not be photocopies of each other. That is how you know it is the real material and not virgin stock.
Heat Resistant, Not Heatproof
The rubber is self-extinguishing and handles warm gear without complaint. It is not a torch pad. Park anything still glowing on a proper stand or a quartz puck, not on the print.
UV Needs a Blacklight
Reactive is not glow in the dark. It will not charge up in daylight and shine on its own in a dark room. It needs a 365nm or 395nm blacklight on it, and with one on it this print does something genuinely strange. Without one it is a very solid full color cartoon on green, which is fine, but it is not the reason to buy it.
Not Everything Lights Up
Worth setting expectations before you order. The brown gold fur and the black outlines carry no reactive ink and go dead under a lamp. If what you want is a print where every element blazes at once, this is not that print. What it does instead is separate, and the separation is the interesting part.
The Number on the Back Varies
Five of these are on the shelf and every one of them is inked by hand with a different figure out of twenty five. We do not publish the number, and the number visible in any photo on this page is not a promise about the one that ships to you. What we can tell you is the run size and that the numbering is real, done by hand on the back next to the studio mark.
