One Lit Cigarette and a Sign That Says Otherwise
Two of them, near enough identical, standing full body side by side. Bright yellow skin, tall rounded lavender bouffants drawn as bumpy cloud shapes, heavy hooded eyelids over pink shadow, long down turned noses and small downturned mouths that are doing most of the acting. The one on the left wears a sleeveless sky blue dress with a hem band and matching blue flats, a red bead necklace and a round red earring, one hand tucked behind her back and the other raised with a lit white cigarette in it. The one on the right wears a short sleeved pink dress with pink flats, a blue triangular earring and a blue bead necklace, both hands planted on her hips. Posture and colour are the only things telling them apart.
Between them at hip height hangs a white rectangular sign: a red circle and slash over a black cigarette with two curling wisps of smoke, and NO SMOKING beneath it in heavy bold rounded black caps. The lit tip of her cigarette is touching the top edge of that sign. That is the entire gag and it does not need explaining. Below the sign there is an open cut out between their legs with the table showing through it, so the die is doing real work here rather than tracing a rectangle around a picture. Up in the top right the black rubber bulges into a lobe carrying two white outlined smoke rings, and everywhere else the border is a thin bare margin, an eighth to a quarter inch on most edges, widening out behind the hair.
Both lighting effects are verified from dedicated photographs and they behave very differently. Under a blacklight it goes broad. The yellow skin fires hardest and converts to bright chartreuse lime, both bouffants and the blue dress light to an intense electric blue that pulls hair and dress into the same family, the pink dress goes vivid violet purple, and the sign panel and the smoke rings fluoresce blue white. Every red fades under the lamp, so the beads, the earring and the sign’s circle all go a muted dusty pink and read far weaker than they do in daylight. Kill the lights instead and it goes selective. The yellow skin glows strong green, the blue dress a cooler teal, both bouffants a darker forest green that is clearly there but muted. The pink dress does not glow at all and sits as a flat dull brown mass. And the white sign drops to pure black, taking the lettering, the printed cigarette and the one in her hand with it, so all that is left of the rule is a dim red ring floating in the gap. The two smoke rings go with it. In daylight the sign wins the frame. In the dark it is simply not there.

The maker’s product page credits this design to @adubsdablab, and nothing further is claimed here. That reads as one person’s handle rather than a studio or a collective, which is why this row carries the Artist Series badge rather than a run number. Whoever drew it worked in flat cel fills inside a thin even keyline with no halftone and no gradient anywhere, and held the line weight steady enough that the fine lettering on the sign and the thin red circle both survive being screen printed onto reclaimed rubber at twelve inches. That is harder than it looks and it is the reason the joke still reads at arm’s length.

Rubber That Already Had a First Life
Moodmats started with scraps from old wetsuits and discarded scuba and surf neoprene, material that was headed straight for a landfill. That became Lava Rubber, and Lava Rubber is what every Moodmat is cut from. The feedstock now comes from wetsuits, gaskets, weatherstripping, seat molds, and other clean scrap that gets collected or donated. More than two tons of it moves through the New Jersey shop every month, gets pressed into sheet stock, then die-cut and screen printed. Keeping that material out of the ground has been the point from day one.
Closed-Cell Neoprene
Closed-cell rubber does not drink up what you spill on it. Water, reclaim, and terp splash sit on the surface instead of soaking in, so a wipe with soapy water puts it back to new.
It Stays Put
The rubber grips whatever it is sitting on and grips whatever you set on top. A rig that would skate across a glass table or a finished desk stops moving the second it lands on a Moodmat.
Tough and Self-Extinguishing
Heat resistant, self-extinguishing, and built out of material that already survived a first life. This is not a printed coaster that curls after a month on the table.

Why It Matters

Moodmats print in runs, and runs end. Once a design is out, it is out. Artist collabs and drop exclusives regularly land in quantities of ten to twenty five pieces, which is why the people who collect these track drops, trade them, and frame the ones they will never put a rig on. If this specific print matters to you, the time to grab it is while it is still on the shelf.
One Hundred Fifty of These Exist
One hundred and fifty is the whole production for this design according to the maker. There is no hand inked figure anywhere on the printed face, we have no photograph of the back of one, and we will not invent a position in a run, so the number on this page is the size of the run and nothing finer. One came in on our first wholesale order and one is what is on the shelf.
No Reprints
Moodmats does not go back and run a sold-out design again. When this one is gone from our shelf and theirs, the only way to get it is from somebody who already has one.
Worth Hanging
A print this limited does not have to earn its keep under a rig. Plenty of these end up on a wall, in a frame, or stacked with the rest of a collection.

Wipe it down with warm water and a little dish soap, then let it air dry flat. That is the whole routine. Do not run it through a washing machine or a dryer, do not scrub the print with an abrasive pad, and do not rest a lit torch or a glowing-hot banger directly on the surface. Use a stand or a puck for anything still at temperature.

Know Before You Buy
Upcycled Means Variation
The rubber is reclaimed scrap, so base color, speckle, and surface texture shift slightly from sheet to sheet. Two mats of the same design will not be photocopies of each other. That is how you know it is the real material and not virgin stock.
Heat Resistant, Not Heatproof
The rubber is self-extinguishing and handles warm gear without complaint. It is not a torch pad. Park anything still glowing on a proper stand or a quartz puck, not on the print.
The Pink Dress Is Not Two Different Pinks
In the daylight photo one dress is pink. In the blacklight photo the same dress is vivid violet purple. That is one ink doing what pink ink does under a 365nm or 395nm lamp, not a second version of the design and not a photo of a different unit. Same print, same dress, different light. Worth saying plainly because two product images that disagree is the sort of thing that gets a message sent before an order gets placed.
UV Reactive and Glow in the Dark Are Not the Same Feature
One needs a blacklight actually running and gives you shifted colour while the lamp is on. The other needs the room properly dark and gives you a green afterimage that fades as the charge runs down. This print does both and they do not overlap, so neither photo predicts the other. Leave it under room light or under the lamp for a while first if you want the glow to come up strong, and go in knowing that the pink dress and every red area on the mat sit the glow out completely.
These Are the Maker’s Photos For Now
All three images on this page, the normal light shot, the blacklight shot and the lights out shot, are the manufacturer’s product photography rather than pictures of a mat in our hands. They are all of the same unit in the same orientation, so read them as an accurate look at the print and at how it behaves, not as a picture of the exact sheet you will get. The rubber underneath is reclaimed scrap and the base speckle shifts from mat to mat. Our own photos are on the list.
