Dark Lands x 74LANDS Test Print Moodmat
A jarred specimen in full color and full UV, die-cut to the shape of the jar. Sixty were made for the run. This is not one of the sixty. This is the Test Print that came before them.
The Print
Something in a Jar, and It Is Not Alone
The mat is cut to the outline of a tall specimen jar. Inside it, floating in pale green fluid, is a severed cartoon head sliced clean down the middle. One half is a boy with black spiked hair and a wide purple eye. The other half is bare white skull, hollow socket, teeth exposed in a permanent grin. The seam runs straight down the nose. Below the jaw the neck ends in a red spiked collar, and orange bubbles drift up around it.
He is not alone in there. A small yellow creature with pointed ears and a jagged tail is perched up on the brim of his cap, mouth wide open over something pink and wet. Spiked purple spirits with clawed hands float in the fluid beside him, one wearing a wide toothy grin that takes up half its face. Around the base of the jar, packed shoulder to shoulder like a chorus line, sits a row of squat purple ghouls with red eyes and enormous smiles. Every one of them looks delighted about the situation.
Under a blacklight it stops being a joke and starts being a light show. The jar glows electric blue, the fluid turns acid green, the cap flares magenta, the yellow one goes fluorescent lime, and the ghouls along the base blaze violet and hot pink with their eyes and teeth burning through. The full-color version and the UV version are two genuinely different pieces of art sharing one sheet of rubber.
A Collaboration

The back of the mat carries the whole chain. The Dark Lands mark sits at the top, a moth with a skull across its body, over the Dark Mountain Cult name and their collector group. Below that, 74LANDS. Below that, the Moodmats yellow Test Print sticker. Three parties on one piece of rubber, and the print is the record of all of them.

Rubber That Already Had a First Life
Moodmats started with scraps from old wetsuits and discarded scuba and surf neoprene, material that was headed straight for a landfill. That became Lava Rubber, and Lava Rubber is what every Moodmat is cut from. The feedstock now comes from wetsuits, gaskets, weatherstripping, seat molds, and other clean scrap that gets collected or donated. More than two tons of it moves through the New Jersey shop every month, gets pressed into sheet stock, then die-cut and screen printed. Keeping that material out of the ground has been the point from day one.
Closed-Cell Neoprene
Closed-cell rubber does not drink up what you spill on it. Water, reclaim, and terp splash sit on the surface instead of soaking in, so a wipe with soapy water puts it back to new.
It Stays Put
The rubber grips whatever it is sitting on and grips whatever you set on top. A rig that would skate across a glass table or a finished desk stops moving the second it lands on a Moodmat.
Tough and Self-Extinguishing
Heat resistant, self-extinguishing, and built out of material that already survived a first life. This is not a printed coaster that curls after a month on the table.

Why It Matters
The One That Came Before the Sixty
A test print is what a shop pulls to check the art before committing to the run. Registration, ink density, how the colors sit on that particular sheet of rubber. It exists ahead of the numbered pieces and outside the count. In print collecting the proof is often the piece people chase hardest, precisely because it is the one that was never meant to be sold.
Outside the Numbered Run
Sixty went out numbered. This one carries no number because it is not one of them. Where a number would be, there is a yellow Moodmats Test Print sticker instead.
Imperfect, Or Extra Perfect
Moodmats prints the disclaimer right on it: these mats may be imperfect, or extra perfect, all depends on how you look at things. They are not hiding what a test print is, and neither are we.
Never Sold at Retail
This run never appeared on moodmats.com. It moved through drops and auction, and the test print least of all. There is no restock and no second one behind the counter.

Wipe it down with warm water and a little dish soap, then let it air dry flat. That is the whole routine. Do not run it through a washing machine or a dryer, do not scrub the print with an abrasive pad, and do not rest a lit torch or a glowing-hot banger directly on the surface. Use a stand or a puck for anything still at temperature.

Know Before You Buy
A Test Print May Be Imperfect
This is the manufacturer’s own language, printed on the back of the mat. A proof can carry registration drift, ink variance, or trim differences the production run does not. For a collector that is the point. If you want a flawless production piece, this specific mat is not it, and that is worth knowing before you click buy.
UV Reactive Is Not Glow in the Dark
The second version needs a blacklight. A 365nm or 395nm lamp is what brings it up. It will not charge in daylight and glow on its own in a dark room. Under normal light you get the full-color print, which is a complete piece on its own.
Die-Cut, So Measure Your Space
The outline follows the jar, so it is tall rather than square or round. The 11 inch figure is the longest dimension, not a width. Measure before you commit it to a specific tray or shelf.
