Flavor First
Small chamber and long cooling path keep terps tight and bright. The diffusion pump style is widely regarded as the best in class for flavor preservation, especially for rosin and live concentrates.
Pull Your Way
Pull hard for an open, easy draw. Pull soft and feel a chuggy bit of resistance. The pump adapts to your style instead of forcing one. Cap selection further tunes the experience.
Water level matters. Fill just above the diffuser stem for proper function. Scroll down for the dedicated water level section with reference image and full breakdown.

Meet the Maker
Southern Oregon Glass, Built for Dabs
JFGlass has been blowing custom dab pieces out of Southern Oregon since 2018. He’s earned a reputation in the community for his diffusion pumps, and more specifically for the version he builds for the Dr. Dabber Switch². Many users consider his pumps among the best performing dab attachments period, whether for a torch rig or an e-rig.
What sets him apart on the buy side is the price. JFGlass keeps his clear colorway value-conscious, which is rare for a US-blown custom piece. At $150 retail, this listing slots in between value imports like our SAML lineup and the higher-end American customs that often run two or three times the price. You get a US artist’s hand-blown work without the typical US-artist price tag.
The Dab Hut is proud to carry a US-blown option for the Switch², and even more proud that it’s one as well-regarded as JFGlass.
How the Pump Works
Why Diffusion Pumps Hit Different
If you’re coming from a standard bubbler or recycler, the diffusion pump is a different category of attachment. Three things explain the difference.
Small Chamber, Big Flavor
The internal vapor volume is small compared to a recycler or fab egg. Vapor doesn’t sit and stale out. It moves through the pump and into your lungs while terps are still bright. This is the main reason diffusion pumps are widely cited as the best dab style for flavor preservation.
Long Cooling Path
Vapor travels a longer route from the heater to the mouthpiece than a typical bubbler. That extra distance pulls heat out of the hit. Result is a hit that’s full strength on flavor without scorching the throat the way some direct-path attachments can.
The Ball and Vortex
A small glass ball sits in the pump chamber. On the pull, the ball moves and the water spins around it, creating the signature pump chug. The visual is satisfying, the function is real, and the chamber design lets the diffusion happen without adding a long bubbler stack between you and the vapor.
Kickback Bubble Dome Mouthpiece
The mouthpiece is a bubble dome with a kickback bend. The dome shape catches splashback, the kickback angle keeps the pull comfortable, and the curve gives the piece a profile that feels good in the hand or on the table.
How to Pull It
Two Styles, One Pump
The diffusion pump is one of the more user-tunable attachments out there. Same piece, different draws, different experiences.
Hard Pull
Open and Airy
Pull hard and the pump opens up. Air moves freely, the ball lifts, and the draw feels nearly unrestricted. Good for big rips and clearing the chamber fast. This is how many longtime pump users describe their daily draw.
Soft Pull
Chuggy and Slow
Pull soft and the pump pushes back a touch. The ball doesn’t lift as much, the water doesn’t move as freely, and you feel the chug build. Good for sipping a small dab and tasting every second of it. Useful for low-temp rosin sessions.
Tune the Draw
Use Your Carb Cap
Cap selection further tunes the experience. Open caps let you pull harder with less restriction. Tighter or restricted caps add resistance and slow the draw. There’s no wrong answer. Pick the cap that matches the pull style you prefer.
Water Level
Get the Water Right
Water level is the single most important variable on a diffusion pump. Get it right and the piece performs the way it should. Get it wrong and it doesn’t matter what cap or dab you run, the function falls off.
Water Level Reference Image
The Rule
Fill just above the diffuser stem. Not over it by a lot. Just past it. The ball needs water around it but the pump chamber needs air space above the water to function.
Too Little Water
No vortex action, no chug, vapor passes through dry. You lose the cooling and the diffusion both. The pump becomes effectively a hot, direct path.
Too Much Water
Splashback risk on big pulls, and the draw gets harder to start. The kickback dome helps with splash but you don’t want to push it. Stay just over the diffuser stem.
Refresh Your Water
Small chamber means residue builds up fast. Change the water every few sessions. Flavor stays bright when the water stays clean.
Carb Cap Pairing
Pick a Cap That Matches Your Pull
Any Switch² carb cap works, joystick style or auto spinner. The right one depends on how you want the draw to feel. Three quick reference points below.
If You Like the Chug
Open or Stock Cap
A more open cap lets you really lean into the pump’s signature draw. Vortex engages cleanly, the chug is loud and visible, and the ball moves the way it’s meant to.
If You Like a Slow Sip
Tight or Restricted Cap
A tighter cap adds resistance to the draw. Combined with a soft pull, you get a slow, chuggy session that brings out the flavor of low-temp rosin and live concentrates.
If You’re Not Sure Yet
Start with Stock
The stock Switch² cap is a fine starting point. Run a few sessions and figure out which direction you want to go. Then upgrade the cap to match your preferred style.

Heads Up
Soft Pull Feels Restricted
Some users report the pump feels somewhat restricted on a soft pull. This is the pump’s design working as intended, not a defect. Pull harder and the draw opens up. If you only ever pull soft, you may want to look at a different attachment style. If you’re flexible on draw, you’ll get the full range of what the pump can do.
Heads Up
Water Level Is Not Optional
A diffusion pump won’t perform without the water set correctly. Reference the water level section above before your first session. If the function feels off, water level is almost always the cause.
Heads Up
Hand-Blown Means Slight Variations
Every JFGlass piece is blown by hand. Tube thickness, ball weight, and decorative touches can vary slightly piece to piece. This is part of owning a custom US-blown attachment. Function is consistent. Cosmetics carry the artist’s signature.
